Coaching classes still hold a result-oriented impact on exam preparations, but this might be another industry that is soon replaced by e-commerce. In traditional classes, a group of students are tutored by a teacher in a single place. But today’s EdTech startups are breaking this practice. In fact, they have broken it already.

EdTech startups are getting popular not just because of their location-independent nature, in fact their methodology is more easy to grasp the content compared to traditional methods. Every student has a different way of studying. And most of them may not be able to follow the existing teaching pattern that coaching classes follow. This is where personalized teaching delivers the finest result of teaching.

Byju Raveendran, the founder of India’s largest education technology company Byju’s, says India is the largest K12 education system in the world, but we consistently rank low in global educational assessments. We started Byju’s as a mission to address this learning gaps to make learning fun and engaging. We make learning engaging, contextual and visual, not just theoretical. We make learning truly personalized with the learning app built by leveraging data science and multiple other technologies. We take learning to the extend where students can understand what to learn, how to learn, how much to learn and how fast to learn. We allow every student to access the best of the best teachers.

We created a unique learning product by bringing three world-class teams together across content, media and technology. That makes students fall in love with the learning. Even it completely changes the way how students research the content. Byju’s teaches with engaging videos, chapter-wise tests with feedback and analysis in the same place, real time progress updates, in-depth solutions, and feedback & recommendations on the go. It allows simple visualization of complex concepts.

Byju’s bagged many prestigious awards including Deloitte Technology Fast 50, as well as, received funds from many global venture capital firms and angel investors, including $50M fund from Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg’s philanthropic organization the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative.

One of the biggest challenges in online teaching is keeping students engaged. But an app like Prepathon, designed by education startup Pagalguy, tackles this problem through bots. The course completion rate is very low in most of the apps, as there is no monitoring by teachers. But Prepathon uses bots in a big way to encourage more students to complete its courses.

According to Pagalguy CEO Allwin Agnel, the bots they use provide teachers with insights like these 1,000 people have not logged in. So teachers can send all of them a message in a click. And other bots are used to send messages to students and guide them as well.

Prepathon allows students to message teachers who can then answer their queries. In traditional classrooms, only a few students ask questions. Agnel says “Bots set [students’] agenda for the day. We have a feedback bot. If a student studied a topic a week ago, it asks them if they want to revise it.”

Faizan Bhombal, a 25 year old working professional from Mumbai, use Prepathon to prepare for (Staff Selection Commission) exam. He says I use the time that I use to commute in Mumbai’s local trains every day to prepare for SSC. I use apps to prepare since I don’t get time. My most of the studies happen while travelling, that’s why I prefer app learning. This is what apps like Byju’s do.

Conclusion:

App learning is having a positive impact with personalized and interactive learning on the current generation learners. So this penetration in online-learning is expected to have a huge impact on the existing traditional coaching classes.
